Welcome to Villa Sampaguita, a comfortable and highly personalised bed and breakfast located on a working vineyard and winery in the heart of Piedmont's wine country.

Villa Sampaguita is situated only 10 minutes drive outside the historic town of Asti, the major center for the Piemonte wine region, an ideal base for touring all the vineyards and wineries as well as sampling the glorious and world-famous wines and cuisine of North East Italy. The city of Alba famous for it's yearly truffle fair and the Barolo wine area are 30 minutes drive.

Villa Sampaguita lies on top a "Bricco" (a ridge, literally a saddle in Piemonte dialect) surrounded by woods, orchards and vineyards, with panoramic views over the Monferatto hills and, on a clear day, of the Alpine mountains. Our farm comprises 11 hectares (~25 acres) of vineyards, cultivated fields, orchards woods, and a stream, located inside the Val de Botto e Valleandona, a national park and protected fossil area. For guests who want to relax in nature, the farm is big enough to wander around, explore the woodland, look for fossils, and absorb the tranquil atmosphere.

Villa Sampaguita was built at the turn of last century as a "Cascina" or working farmhouse, which included house, stables and barns under one roof, with a large underground cantina (wine cellar) for making wine. The house and was lovingly restored and modernized by its previous owners and we have rebuilt the huge barn area into 4 deluxe suite-rooms each with its own bathroom and view of surrounding countryside, plus two self-contained apartments. In addition our guests have their own salone d'hospiti (guest lounge) complete with library and satellite TV. (ACCOMMODATION)

Villa Sampaguita does not feature a formal restaurant, but Asti and other nearby towns have such a wonderful selection and we can recommend many great places (FOOD). However our guests are most welcome to share our home-cooked meals using our own organically grown produce. Rina is a great cook and blends Asian and Italian cuisine expertly (RINA'S CUCINA). Local wines are included of course (WINES).

Asti is a natural jumping off point for tours of the Monferrato, Langhe & Roero wine (LOCAL INFO) districts, and we can arrange or recommend tour agendas including visits to wineries specializing in Barolo, Barbera, Barbaresco, Moscato D'Asti and other fabulous wines of this region (TOURS).

Asti is almost halfway between the cities of Turin and Milan, and is an easy drive to the Alps, Val D'Aosta, Lakes Maggiore & Como to the North and to the Mediterranean port of Genoa and the Ligurian Riviera to the south. Pisa and its famous tower is about 3 hour drive on the autostrada. We are only 5 minutes from the Asti autostada exit, and the closest airports to Asti are Torino (~50 minutes), Milano (Linate, Malpenza) (~75 minutes) and Genova (~60 minutes).
